01 Overheating

My dads o1 2500 is overheating pulling his 16500 lb. camper we stopped to let it cool and found that the turbo hose from the intercooler had come lose and it was smoking pretty bad. Would this cause the truck to smoke and overheat? I checked and cleaned everything that would do this. it also did lose power on take off but when you got up to speed it ran fine just puffed smoke when got in it alittle. the temp ran on the 0 no 190 pulled the same trp 3 times before temp ran 190.

Yeah, having a disconnected intercooler hose would definitely cause heat and smoke. With the hose disconnected, you're not actually getting any boost to the engine. So now you have fuel, but not enough air to burn it. Trying to pull a load that way will cause a lot of heat and smoke due to incomplete combustion of the fuel.

look inbetween the rad and intercooler, your rad can be externally plugged from the oily vapor from the puke bottle or hose, when I bought my truck it was 80% plugged solid I had to remove the rad to clean it properly
