'01 HO cam

What is the difference in the HO and standard output motors, besides the power output? Is it just electronics or is it other mechanical parts? I am upgrading to a Helix2 and would love to make a few bucks by selling the cam. Is it the same for all motors or did it vary? Anyone with an interchange book is more than welcome to chime in!

AFAIK, the cams are the same. Pistons are different, as are the injectors, injection pump and ECM. You can make a couple bucks selling the cam, but its not a performance cam, just a replacement.

Same cam! Only one cam for 98.5 through 06, at least! Maybe earlier and later too?
Sold my factory (160,000 miles) to a diesel shop, for $100.00, after installing my H-2. Was in excellent condition.

My feeling is the H-2 Cam makes big difference.... especially on automatics. You mention tranny temp gauge, so I assume...?
5 and 6 speeds can adapt better to weak breathing of factory cam by keeping the Cummins reved up a bit but we don't get that luxury.

Bottom line is H-2 is not a super aggressive change.... just has slightly higher lift and considerably longer duration on lobes... to allow better breathing and quicker response. Especially noticeable on low end. No lopes or rough idle.

With no fuel added, I'm don't know what you would see. Just don't know anyone that did the cam before adding more fuel.
If planning to add HP, it's a very nice addition.
