Hey guys, i dont have a 3200 spring or anything in my truck, and i was just wondering if it hurts anything to run these trucks at WOT for short bursts? i wouldnt think so because they only rev to about 2300.

I run mine @ WOT for a little over nine seconds repeatedly every Thursday night here lately.

But seriously, if I'm not mistaken, in the Stock/OEM trim (NO NOTHING!), the truck can be run at a 100% duty-cycle*. That being in the recommended RPM range for sure (no lugging).

So pretty-much floored pulling the max OEM gross weight all day long.

Unless I'm mistaken.

*. See a bunch of fine print on back of this post.

Not gonna hurt it a bit. My tired old mill pulled I-80 across PA into a headwind with a pretty good load. I ran 2400rpm @ 25psi for about 2 hours and she was just asking for more. Under 500 HP, I'm beginning to question weather or not the 12v can be harmed in regular service

One of the guys I met at the KY GTG has an '89 with somewhere in the neighborhood of 450k on it. It was the shop truck at a local tractor shop before he owned it. While the tractor shop had it, it was stolen. The thieves got it stuck in a field, then left it running with a stick jamming the pedal on the floor (trying to blow it up, I guess). It was found several hours later, wailing away. He's still driving it.

You have to keep a stock one on the floor to maintain 75+ anyhow, so a somewhat mild one isn't going to be bothered by running it all out.

Sure glad you guys confirmed this... on the test ride last week (checking the tranny temps) the ol' girl sounded like it could explode running 70mph (Drive) @ 3k rpm tugging a 7K# load

Try a set of 3:08's 75+ is a good crusie speed, 60 MPH is 1650 RPM.

If it hasn't been turned up. You can run as long as you want WOT.

I hauled a car from Tulsa to my house once. Total weight was 7k load for trailer and car. 775 miles, 2 stops for fuel. 75 MPH plus all the way for 13 hours. EGT was 1150 all the way. It cost me a down pipe.
