Word to the wise.

Just an update on my '92 LE. I fabricated a gauge pod out of stainless and mounted it on the "A" pillar just about an inch above the dash. Looks like an old style Sun tach. housing and surprisingly I don't get any glare. I drilled and tapped the manifold about an inch and 3/4's from the turbo being real careful not to introduce any debris into the inside of the manifold. My thanks to yawl. I feel a lot better knowing what is going on in the engine. So far I haven't seen anything above 1100 degrees but the real test will be Sat. morning when I put the boat on the road for a 45 mile round trip. For my next trick I will try to reduce the size of some of the pics. I took and post them. I am still going to school on these dang computers. It is a love/hate relationship. Glad I don't have one running my engine.

My next mod on the truck is going to be a 4 inch exhaust system. I am going to probably need a muffler on that because I am usually leaving the house before the rooster gets up and I don't want to tick off my good neighbors. My plan is to take off the 3 inch down pipe and cut it off just below the elbow and weld on a 3 to 4 bell reducer and heat shield and go from there. Any thoughts or advice will be greatly appreciated. I am after all very budgit minded.

I would just buy a complete prefabbed system. I pieced my own together at first cause at the time I didn't know of anybody who sold a prefabbed kit for our trucks. And I have about the same amount of money into just the pieces plus a lot of time welding it together and making it fit right. I still have to put the downpipe on.

The best advice that I can give you is to put on 5 inch stacks and buy the neighbors some ear plugs to wear to bed but it's cool that you think about your neighbors first. My stack's were on when my neighbors moved in.

Thanks for the input. It is all food for thought. I really enjoy a good challenge and will have to weight the cost verious time on this one. Lying on my back and getting crap in my face, no hair to worry about, or paying someone to do a professional job???????????? I think I am gonna check out Muffler King in Newport News, VA
