Wiring power seats
Wiring power seats
I am just finishing off brackets for new seats. Looking for ideas for power source for seats...they have heat also..It is easy enough to get the seats to function but have not tried the heaters yet...
Is there 2 power sources feeding the seats one for movement and one for heaters ?
What size of fuse would be used for seats
not sure year of seats second or third gen...friend who knows is out of town at present..
I would think putting in a new fuse panel would be the way to go plus will have easy power source for other future upgrades...will have some pictures next day or 2.

25-30amp circuit breaker for the seat movement relayed from hot all of the time (well that's how I did mine). And with the heated seats you need to know what they came out of. I do believe the 3rd gens had a modual that controled the functions. There are 5volt referanced sensors for overheating and what not.
But then again I may be way off base on that one?

I installed seats out of a 2002 Durango (power heated leather) in my 1993 W350. I ran a power/ground twin wire for the power seat portion, and a seperate power/ground wire to my console for the seat heaters. I added a small breaker panel under my hood with 30 amp breakers. The Durango has a module inside the console for the 2 stage heated seats. I used the Durango switch panel riveted to the front of my 93 console, and mounted the module inside. I also gained a power outlet in my console, but haven't made a mont for it though. If you go the Durango seat route, be sure to get the entire harness from console to seats. Mine had only clipped off plugs and took some research to figure out, they don't wire up the way the colors, or logic suggests. Dedicated grounds or something IIRC.
If you check under the dash near the brake pedal, you will find a connector with connections for power seats & such.
OOPS: I think it may be behind the kick pannel. . I just remember tapping into it for my auxiliary power outlets. It's been a couple years.
