will a regular tach work on a diesel (sunpro supertach 2) 93 w250

Most likely not. Most require a pulse signal from the ignition which the diesel lacks. Autometer makes one however that has a pickup that hooks onto the alternator with a big hose clamp. I think yours may have a plug from the crank sensor though which is made for a tach. Somebody else will need to answer that question.

nobody else? will the plug work. the one under the dash. the reason is i have the tach out of my old truck. i dont want to buy one if i can keep from it. at least right now cause i need to buy the boost and pyro first. thanks

You might check with Sun and see if they make a diesel sender for it. If it goes to 8000 rpm you won't be happy with it though. If you need to buy a diesel sender it will probably cost you as much as a new diesel tach. You might try to sell you Sun to get the money for a new Diesel tach. I'm sure the ricer HS kids would love to have it.
