Will these wheels work on my 1st gen?
Ok, a family member just gave me a set of Ford factory aluminum wheels (Alcoa-looking wheels). The wheels are 8 lug and say 16x7 on the backside. I would like to put these on my 93' 4x4. Will they work? If so, whats the widest tire size I can mount on these wheels.......2** what?

they will fit. stock lug nuts may not work well. Alcoa sells lug nuts for them with 1/2inch threads. Also dodge has a lug nut that will work. Very sweet wheels. I have a set I have been meaning to put on.

So are these wheels actually made by Alcoa? Did Ford have a contract with them or something? I'm very familiar with the Alcoa's that are runned on the big rigs. The only thing missing on these wheels are the hub caps/front hub collars. I guess I can always buy those at a wheel/tire shop.

Here are the wheels........will they work on my 1st gen?
Ok guys, here is the wheels I have. Wondering what they are off of and what year roughly? The only identification I found on these wheels is FORD and 16x7.
Are they Alcoa's and will they work on my 1st gen? The measurements seem pretty much the same as my stock dodge wheels.

Whats the deal with this metric bolt pattern that everyone keeps talking about? I saw these wheels on a newer Super Duty. I'm afraid they are newer than 98......if so, why can't I use them?

Because the metric wheels will not fit the bolt-pattern.
Our bolt-pattern is good old tried and true 8-hole on 6-1/2".
Until Ford went communist with that metric junk, all eight-lug wheels had the same pattern, any truck SRW or DRW, any trailer, anything at all with eight lug-nuts, all had the same bolt-circle, 8 on 6-1/2.
The only exception being eight-lug agricultural/industrial wheels, which have a standard different from ours.
If you have the wheels in hand, just remove a wheel from the truck and try one on.

Yeah I've got the same problem...bought a set of Centerlines from a guy on Craig's List. I didn't get a chance to measure them and I swear he said they were off a '96 ...now I'm stuck trying to sell these really nice wheels to someone with a 'superdoody'!! If you measure, Bearkiller is right, ours are 8x6.5 theirs are 8x6.875 (8x170). I suffered the ID10T disease, I'm sure others have, too.

The newer metric style are more dished or concave, they have a smooth face that gradually pitches to the center, and the vent holes are larger. The metric rims came from when they switched body styles for the 99 model year. yours are definitely the older square 90's body style truck type. The old style have a flat face ( on the same plane) where the hole circle is. But, I don't know if ferd did the metric thing to the style you have for 1 yr. I wouldn't think they would've changed it ,the trucks stayed the same.Yea or nay?

Bad news.........
Yup, these Ford wheels I have are metric. They have the larger holes and dished face. The holes measure 6.8 instead of the 6.5 I need. Looks like I'll be putting these wheels up for sale or try to trade them off for the older style. What years of Ford pickups did they make the 8-lug aluminum Alcoa 16x7 with 6.5 bolt pattern? I'd like to do my homework so I don't fall into a trap of getting the wrong wheels. Anyone have some of these wheels on their 1st gen? Would like to see an example on a 4x4 1st gen.
