I am looking for new to me wheels for the ctd. It has steel stampers with the beauty rings . Will any 8 bolt 16" wheel fit? I'm calling the junk yard and try to find something (sucks you can't walk the yard anymore). Just wondering what vehicles I could tell them to look under? Aluminums would be preffered but steel wagons would be ok.

 

Like anything , stuff changes over time , but it used to be that ford had a differant bolt patern , dodge & chev were the same except for the center hole , about 1/8 " differant , got in a tight spot a long time ago and ground away that 1/8 " and on our way we went .

 

Last week a customer brought in his 94 Dodge to have some tires switched. He had a set of take-off wheels & tires from his brother's '05 Chevy Duramax truck. Just for kicks I tried to slid one of the Chevy wheels on the Dodge....no go, the center hole was too small on the wheel. Sorry, I didn't measure how much....

 

Any dodge or chev will fit , if you modify the center hole of the chev wheel. and any ford wheel pre 98 will fit.

I do not know about your first gen, but on my second gen, I had a lot of trouble finding a wheel. As said earlier, the later Fords will not fit, but even if the Chevy and Dodge had the same bolt circle, the interior part, what slides over the front hub was different. It was too small, and would not fit over this little shoulder on my front hub. Yours may be different, I would make sure before you buy

 

Your wheels should be 8-lug on 6-1/2" bolt circle.

As previously stated, pre-98 Fords, all Chevy's, and all Dodges have the same bolt pattern.

What will fit with no modification is the Fords and, of course, Dodge.

The older Chevy will fit if the center is enlarged to clear the hub.

Later Chevy's will not work because of the large amount of negative offset; they will hit the tie-rod ends and calipers.

After-market wheels are generically designed to fit all three.

 

I was wondering if anyone knows if GMC 8 lug wheels will fit a 93 D250 4x4?

First, what year model GMC wheels are you wanting to use??

The older model GM wheels will match the bolt-pattern; but, the axle hole is too tight.

Some have trimmed the hole bigger; but, care must be used in doing this, as cracking through the lug-holes can be a problem with trimmed wheels.

Later model GM wheels have a bunch of negative off-set and will interfere with the brake-calipers and tie-rods.

All in all, it isn't worth the trouble to try and make GM wheels fit a Dodge or Ford.

Aftermarket wheels are usually generic and will fit all three, Dodge, Ford, and Chevy/GMC.

Ford wheels before about 99, or so, are a direct bolt on fit.

 

I'd stick with the pre 98/superduty ford wheels, alum or steel (alcoa or Accuride are the OEM manufactuers) They have not only the right hub fitment but also the right Backspacing we need as well.

 

I've heard so many times that the pre '98 Ford Powerstroke wheels would fit,but I needed some new wheels last year. I found a '94 super duty ps in the upullit with fairly new tires. I think "what luck" and grab the tires and rims. I got home and found that the rims had a center hole too small to fit on my Ram (neither front or rear). The lug pattern was fine, so I started cutting away the center hole. After a couple of hour of grinding and a rim that still wouldn't fit (let alone looking to be unsafe) I quit and started looking for rims from a Dodge. I have no idea why so many people say Ford rims will fit and mine would not.

 

The Alcoa pre superduty wheels will fit. As for dodge wheels, the later alloys, '00+, wont work without spacers as I understand it.

I just bought a set of 16.5 in rims and tires off a Chevy for my 2003 Dodge 3500. Didn't even think there would be an issue with the .5 difference. But apparently after doing some research there is.

So was looking around and found a pair of GMC 17in rims, will these fit my 2003 Dodge 3500 with stock 17in rims?

I do not know if the GMC rims are stock or aftermarket, both are 8 lug. The 8 lug pattern on the 16.5 matched up no problem, just the design of the rim appears to be tapered inside so it wouldn't slide on all the way. If there is a way to make the 16.5 rims fit I would love that info as well!
