I thought those balancers would have a viscous fluid with the ***** in suspension.

They are always advertised in RV magazines.

They have to get upto speed for the weights to work.

I would personally keep running them, esp if the truck is smooth running. RV and big rigs use that sort of system rather than the clip ons.

I tried the balancing beads with this new set of tires. They seem to work just as good as the clip on weights. They are pretty easy to put in. They come in little bags, and you just put the bag in the tire before you put the second bead on. Once you drive, the bags open up and your balanced. They did recommend two bags per tire for 10 ply 285's. It was about $40 for 4 tires worth. Even comes with special valve cores and fancy valve stem caps.

I have about 2500 miles on so far, and it's been smooth.

I hate taking tires off to balance them. Actually I don't care for tire work period. So in the long run it saves time, money and agrevation.

I will try to dig up what brand they are....

Those are definitely wheel-balancers, but I do not think they are CENTRAMATIC brand.

Genuine Centramatics have an aluminum outer tube that is bonded to the steel center-plate.

That looks like a plastic tube that is zip-tied.

Well that's the first I've seen of a product like that. Looks like a neat solution to tire balance issues. I almost want to get some just to try out.

A guesstimated 4-ounces of BBs dumped in each tire will have the same effect, as will an equal amount of plain old sand..

I have taken as many as twenty dis-formed golf-***** out of a single big truck tire; many swear by them.

I have also poured plain old anti-freeze, one-quart per tire, in big truck tires, as per customer request.

I like the Centramatics best, as you just hang them on the studs and forget them; they are there for the duration.

I recalled a guy putting the "BB's" in thru the valve stem on a set of new tires he got. Makes it much simpler than having to remove tire, break bead, etc...

If a person were to keep a new set of tires on their truck for 40k miles I can see how they would be great for peace of mind. I'll probably be using some once I get some tires that warrant them.

But for frequent break down of tires, they might be a pita. Still seems like they would want to stay in the tire if care were taken. If not, they might be all over the floor.

Here's a nifty vid of how BB's in the tires works. These one's go in thru the valve stem, pretty simple. Not affiliated.

Wink >>> money well spent --- i hope <<<

I just got off of the phone and now have a set of four Centramatics en-route; two for the steers and two for the drives.

They should be here by Friday.

If these pan out, I will eventually get a couple more sets for the other trucks.

Centramatic does use the fluid according to the guy in the video. He just used big bearings and no fluid for demonstration purposes.

Some company has been making these with mercury for years. They even use them to balance harley engines. The mercury is silent.
