Why I drive a Dodge Cummins...

I'm sure some of you can relate to me on this one. I sit here pondering my reasons for driving a 17yr Dodge Cummins truck (besides the obvious ones) as I shell out another $1800 for a tranny rebuild. This is after $1000 in body parts and countless time welding and sanding. Then yesterday...I load my 17 month old son into his seat on the co-pilot side. I hop in, buckle up and turn the key. As she shudders to life, I look over at my son and a huge smile erupts on his face. Then I remember as a huge smile erupts on MY face...THIS is why I drive a Dodge Cummins...long live the 1st gen CTD...

A guy in a new Mustang pulls up (on my right side) and notices my stereo is playing, so he decides to blast me with his. At the green light I wait until my tailpipe is even with his open window and I return the favor, in a cloud of black smoke.

Aaahhhhh.... I love the smell of diesel in the morning...

For me it is when my 2 year old and 4 year old daughters get all excited when I tell them we are going in a ride in "Daddy's truck!"

The other day my 2 (almost 3) year old saw a white F-150 and said, "Daddy, that is like your truck......except it isn't as big and isn't as loud!"

My four year old said to me this morning, "Dad when I grow up I want a truck like yours."

I think I had a tear in my eye...

Among other reasons, when my 23 year old son rides and I hit it he says, . . . . "Dang Dad! "

Why do I drive a CTD??

1. It's a full sized truck that's SAFE and can haul or pull almost ANYTHING.

2. It get's great mileage on a 60 mile round trip daily commute @ 22.7 mpg average.

3. It's mine & paid for. A new truck payment?

4. While it may not be the prettiest thing in automotive styling to ever roll out of a Detroit, with good paint, no dents and maybe some wheels, I think it's STILL a good looking truck.

That's what comes to mind right off hand.... Chuck

I'll luv her always! (uhmm, my daugher, too!)

Excuse me fellas, i'm gonna need a moment...to dry my eyes!
My youngest daughter (2 yrs) always says she wants to ride in "papa's fruck". I have to make sure her emphasis is on the letter "r" in that word!
otherwise, it might make for some interesting conversation!
She loves when i put her carseat up front and take her for a ride in the loud machine! she just sits there with her feet kicking and her eyes popping out of their sockets to the clatter of the 5.9 beast!
Yep, i'm one proud "papa"!

When the kids like 'em, the wife likes 'em. When the wife likes 'em, it makes "bombing" them a WHOLE lot easier

why i have my ctd

well in the diesel world you cant beat a cummins. hands down. and the best truck rapped around the cummins is the 1st gen!

it also helps that my wife loves the truck more than me. when i found out that we were having a baby. i said i geuss its time to get a bigger truck. she then told me i am not alowed to sell the 1st gen. only buy a 2nd gen ect cab. or really nice 1st gen ext. cab. what a woman
plus in about 16 1/2 years i plan on giving my son my 1st gen . maybe, just maybe!

Bob
