I have a 1993 W350 Dually 4x4 and looking at getting wheels and tires off a newer ford dually with 17" wheels. Can can some tell me if this would fit my truck/

Thanks

you have 5/8 studs and all newer duallys have 9/16 studs

when i put my big tires on i had spacers made for the rear and they pressed in 5/8" outers but could have easily pressed in 9/16 outers

and the fronts i think you could put in 9/16" studs in the hub
or get adapters

for wheels fit over the hubs but chevy/dodge hubs are smaller and wont fit on fords iirc..

I' not 100% sure on the duallies, but in 99 ford got stupid and switched from the 8 x 6.5" that all 3/4 and 1 ton single wheel trucks used up until then to a 8 x 170 mm. I'm pretty sure the duallies changed as well.

I asked this same question just the other day. If looking for the Ford Alcoa wheels, (like I am) then you want the pre-Powerstroke ones, meaning '97 and back.

Thanks for all replies, I was getting new pull offs from the dealer for almost nothing but this changes things.

Lucas,

If I understood you correctly, the bolt pattens are the same but smaller? I
drill out ones on older trucks to fit in the pass. Do you think this is possible?

KD93,

Ford Alcoa wheels, Are they the stock wheels? And the pre 97 pre powerstroke should fit?

Did Dodge come out with 17" wheels? It maybe worth the money for me to hunt some down

Ours are 5/8", the Fords are 9/16", so while the bolt apttern is the same, you'll need to go to NAPA or wherever and get some lug nuts that'll fit in the holes. Thread size is an 18. That's my understanding anyway, I haven't done it yet so I may be wrong.
The Alcoas are the aluminum ones, not the steel, (although they may have made the steel rims too, not sure) and look like miniature Class 8 wheels with the 10 holes around the hub. Dodge made 17" wheels for the 3rd gen 2500, but AFAIK they've never made them for duallies. Again, I'm no expert.

Eight-lug Ford and Dodge wheels traditionally had 1/4" larger center holes than GM and the same bolt pattern(8 on 6.5"). The wheels on my 06 are 17x8/8 on 6.5 and would fit the Gen 1s if the lug holes were slightly larger.

Good to know. Thanks gadget!

Would it be possible to drill the holes larger without damaging integrity?

Not too sure why you would want 17s anyway. Tires are much more expensive, along with less size/stylr/brand selection. 1" of tire weighs a lot less than 1" of wheel so you are actually increasing unsprung weight, which will hurt the ride, work ths shocks more, etc. I really can't think of a single positive reason to make that swap, except your new and cheap deal.

When I bought new aftermarket wheels for my truck, when it was still a dually, the lug holes were too small so I just drilled them to 5/8 worked just fine.

I am picking up 8 new wheels and tires that are pulled off from brand new trucks that pretty much had zero miles for $200.00 This is the only reason Iam looking at going 17". I was quoted $1200.00 to replace 16" tires currently on the truck. If drilling is going to be my toughest challenge. I move forward and get tires.

Thanks for everyones replies.

That's $200 each, right? 'Cos if that was $200 for the lot you'll be having a lot of orders on your hands! Yep, I'm looking down the barrel of $1400, (I need a spare too) for tires alone.
