wheel stud upgrade

so i was wondering if anyone has upgraded a 1st gen with 9/16th wheel studs? when i think about it all you would have to do is have a machine shop drill the hubs, rotors and drums out. i hate how my wheel holes have all that extra room. its probably not a huge deal but i thought about it the other day

You should be able to do it yourself. It would be pretty expensive because you need 32 of them.

Well I have 9/16" studs in the rear, but thats because I've got a dana 80.

Now for the front you can do 9/16" studs. They need to be 9/16"-18 with a .650" knurl, 2 17/32" lg with a 15/16" shoulder.

Dorman part#: 610-283
Balkamp part#: 641-2794

Now from what i've found in my research you either need to drill out the rotors, or buy new rotors that have the right size. Also I believe that chevy used these studs on their dana 60's as such you can use the chevy rotors.

Sorry can't help you on the rears.

Sorry. Unless you want do stuff like drilling rotors, finding odd rotors, etc.

Do you have those 9/16 studs on your fronts, Aaron?

Not yet, but i'm going to as soon as I get time. I'm going to do brakes u-joints and bearings all at the same time. Just have to start collecting parts.

I install the above part #'s on my truck and it didn't require any drilling at all. I just pushed out the old and put in the new. The rears should be the same way.
