What's next after the Borgeson shaft?
What's next after the Borgeson shaft?
I had good steering for about 2 weeks. The truck is now wandering again, mostly at around 35mph, seems to do pretty well at highway speed. I did a quick visual/grab and shake of the front end, but didn't see anything too suspect. What's the most likely things to have worn out now?
Re:What's next after the Borgeson shaft?
Tie rod ends, drag link ends, loose input shaft or pitman shaft on the steering gear, broken mounting plate for the steering gear.
Of course, loose wheel bearings can cause trouble.
I would check out the drag link first, then the tie rod ends.
You really have to get bothe wheels off the ground and give each wheel a good solid shake left to right -- or get someone to give the steering wheel a jiggle with the truck on dry pavement, though sometimes I miss things one way and find them the other . . .
Good luck.
