What turbo would you recommend for towing?

Depends on the injectors. You are in HX-40/HTBG territory with the 190's if you want to use all the fuel you have available.

Towed the boat sixty miles yesterday and managed to not melt down any pistons. Even when I passed a big tricycle chem truck doing 45 mph on a two lane road. I can keep sixty on cruise control and the temps are below 1250. Even pulling some slight grade. Touch the go pedal and I'm at 1500. W/M? I hit the button once and realized that I have too much meth and not enough water . The temps went up. That's what I get for not measuring. Towing performance is very good to excellent. The injectors pump smoke a little but it isn't as much as the 190's. I think a valet switch is in the plans for the future. I'm also going to be looking at turbos. My boost is 32 psi now so, without changing to studs I don't really want to go up much more. All in all, with what I have done and what the truck will do I am pleased. Now to try and hit 300 next Saturday .
On another note, the engine temps never climbed much above normal. The new torque converter really pulls hard and doesn't add a great amount of heat to an otherwise well taxed cooing system. Air temp was about 65* F and I was running hard. (Make that running late) Trans gauge never hit 210*F. That is the one thing I did right for this truck. But that is a different thread.

I went hand over hand from the lift pump to the Ip and couldn't find a leak, but there has to be on somewhere. When I restart the truck after I have run it hard and it has sat overnight, that is when it is the worst, sometimes. Not every time. I'm going to check everything over again today and see if I can find it.

This isn't a contributor but, I worked my way to the top of the fuel tank using a strong light. There I found two partially crimped fuel lines. Man it is tight working on those with the tank in the truck but I managed to straighten one out but I had to cut and splice the other. The result created a little more (2 pounds) lift pump pressure. I found zero leaks. I even did a drop test of the gauge and gauge line and found nothing. I am running up to Alexandria tomorrow to spend the day with my Dad. I will post mileage, boost and temperature numbers when I get back. It is about 360 mile round trip.

Well it was great seeing my Dad, but the traffic up there is a ZOO!. I left at 0610 and had a real good time going up.
At 80mph I saw 825 on exhaust, 2-4 pounds boost, eng. temp normal and trans temp 150 to 160.
At 75 mph I saw 825 egt, 1-2 pounds boost and everything else the same.
At 55 I saw 725-700 egt's no boost eng., and trans temps the same.
I got 17mpg average round trip. I ran A/C part of theway but not at all on the return leg. I made it to Falls Church in under three hours. The return trip I beheaved myself and stayed below 70. I didn't have much choice. The traffic was heavy. It took me from 1900 to 2230 to make it home. Too many fools turning their cars upside down. If I had driven up at a reasonable speed and returned at a reasonable speed I should be able to get 18+ mpg. Not bad for a fifteen year old six wheel 4x4 truck shaped like a brick and no lock up on the torque converter. Anyway I will go back in a couple weeks to take Dad to the new Marine Corps museum in Triangle.
