what does this control???
i am new to the 1st gens and need a little help. on the top of the pump i see where the idle is controlled on the engine side, but on the driver's side of the pump is the same threaded bolt that allows the throttle to move only so far. i have not tampered with this since i dont believe i should, but would like to know what it does? high idle? what exactly is high idle and low idle? does it give you more RPM, but continues to fall off the power band without the governor spring?

2 turns on that made a big difference on my truck. Its a RPM limit but it will effect how the pump reacts to defueling. Mine layed over big time at full pedal and struggled to get up to speed. After the adjustment it accelerated harder higher up RPM wise and reved a bit more and didn't seem as doggy. It will raise the RPM and in hand with it will change the governer springs and weights reaching that defueling syncronization. Mine might have been set to low originally though. Who knows.

Yeah, it lets you pull harder on the governor spring, it can make the truck feel peppier when you mash the skinny pedal. It also helps top speed a lot for the old 3 speed auto trucks. If you adjust on it, make sure that the screw is still stopping the throttle lever, not the pump internals.
