Tell me about it. At $35, and no more skinned knuckles, swearing, and being hunched over trying to get those things on, it's cheap! Not to mention when using pry tools, vice grips, etc. by the time you get it on and your hands are covered in blood, that spring is all mangled, possibly overstretched, lol

Here's an alternative to that SnapOn tool, to remove those shoe retaining springs. $8.21 from toolsource.com. Part #51076. Heck, for this price, I'm ordering one of these. Never hurts to have backup, I always say

The other brake spring tool, shaped like large forceps. Used to remove and install that top horizontal spring, that pulls the shoes inward.
