Since I will be driving before sunrise and after sunset on my upcoming 700 mile trip to pickup the W250 rolling chassis, I installed the "Jim Lane" headlight relay upgrade and a new headlight switch. This is the first truck I have seen in the last 10 years that does not have a slightly melted headlight switch plug. It even still had a Mopar headlight switch. I only had to drill one hole in the body to mount the relay panel. It will be nice to be able to see in the dark...THANKS Mr. Lane!

whiskey bravo,
In my case the new shaft was the best thing I have ever done to my steering
Augie,
here is another of that shaft, in the first pic I had the upper collar locked on the wrong side hence the pirate (actually it was a skull and crossbones) telling me I had it wrong and if it wouldn't have been for edwinsmith and you noticing it, I could have been in deep dodo, if you look now it more like Fred Flintstone and that pretty much sums these trucks up

Well I'm currently up to my elbows in diesel fuel changing that $6.00 ring seal above the fuel heater. I hope that fixes the leak. The old seal was smashed level with the edge of the filter but the new one sticks up a few thousandths.
While I have the heater off I put my Triplett on it to see what the resistance is. It is near infinite ohms so I stuck it in the freezer on top of the meat to cool it down so I can test it again. If it is good or bad it goes back on because I don't have time to get the heater eliminator stud by mail. If I move back to a cold climate I'll have to remember to replace it if it turns out to be bad.
Stay tuned.

The seal seems to have worked. No more drip drip drip of $3.00/gallon fuel down the side of the engine. Maybe now I can see if it's leaking oil.
I put the fuel heater in the freezer for about a half hour. It got ice on it when I took it out so I think it was cold enough. I still read near infinite ohms on my Triplett. When I move to Elephant Breath Montana I'll have to buy a new one I guess. For now it works fine.
BTW I checked my brake fluid while I was under the hood and the leak at the right front caliper has stopped also.

Yes. If it wasn't there I'd be wondering where the wire is supposed to plug in. I didn't price a new heater at the Cummins dealer while I was there. With the $6.00 seal the heater would probably cost hundreds. I see in the sticky that the 2nd gen unit can be got from Geno's and made to work. They still listed it the other day when I looked. They didn't say anything about the different plug that is needed but I didn't look that hard.
I took the truck down the 405 in Irvine to warm it up. It never fails to put a smile on my face.

I do keep a spare O-ring seal, and the delete plug, for that "just in case" moment, as I'll have options of what route to choose.
