What color(s) scheme should I paint my truck?
I am planning on doing a body transplant on my truck soon and since it will have many colors of panels it will need to be painted, obviously. So my question is; If you could paint the truck any color, what would you do? I have been thinking about a two-tone scheme or just a straight color. If I'm going to spend the money on a paint job I want it to look like it was painted so I don't want any factory colors. The interior will most likely be red, unfortunately, so colors are limited. Perhaps I could change the interior color. How well does the dash paint work? There is also a parts truck around with a grey interior that I could probably strip so give me all your suggestions. I really wanted to do it limelight green with a flat black hood to match my stack, but then I would definitely need to change the interior color. What do all you guys think you'd paint it?
I think everybody here has good taste and so I value the opinion of fellow first genners. I read somewhere (can't remember where) that these trucks are practically the classiss of diesel perfomance so I think that the appearance should be treated as such. I don't want tomake a decision that I will regret so I'm taking my time. Plus it's a write-off.
Having just visited a relative (of my wife) in Iowa a few weeks back with a KILLER collection of early Mopar muscle cars...
and you mentioned "lime light"...
What about "Sassy Grass" green? It sure looked great on 1 of his 2 '70-ish AAR Cuda's!

While on the topic of line-x; I thought about doing the lower part of the truck with it for protection from rock chips and achieving a sort of two tone affect. A friend used it on his truck on the lower portion and up the fender crease in the body. It looked real good and he used the do it yourself stuff so the cost was very reasonable.
yea that's a popular thing to do. any of the spray on stuff is tons better than the roll on.
Rhino- softer, great anti skid, but you can break through if it's not thick enough.
Line-x- Harder, stuff will slide in the bed more.
for the lower body panels i would use line-x

my thought for my 78 crew cab is linex or somthing like it for the hood and inside the box and up the body about a foot all in a dark color then the rest of the rig either white or bright yellow. saw this at the car show and thinking of using same paint and striping adapted to a pickup.
It doesnt insulate the cab from the heat but rathers increases it. And back home, in the DEEP South Texas heat, thats the last thing I needed. The heat already will deform a CD left on the dash if left there long enough...
Plus, another reason I said no was the thought that my LC is almost a full classic and Line-X is really not reversable. Any attempt to remove it will damage the metal. A friend of mine who used to do body work said that the only way to get it off was to heat it with a torch and scrape it off which in turn would warp the metal...

I cant imagine wanting to do that to a 1st gen or any other classic.
Now dont think Im a hypocrit because my 1st gen is two tone white with black line-x. It wasnt my choice. Previous owner did it. But then again, its not the WHOLE vehicle either....

No really, the green sounds cool, but you are the one who will be driving it, so its your choice.
