I have been chasing electrical demons for 4 months. I have changed everything that I have seen here, except for the cheapest fix of installing an external VR (my problem). Truck is currently at the mechanics and he says that he has found some diagrams that state there is an external VR under the dash. Has anybody heard of this? 93 4X4 auto. Thanks R

 

nope, no vr under dash or even inside truck for that matter. just mount an external unit on the firewall (you can even see the depressions in the sheetmetal for where to mount it. when you buy it get 2, not a bad idea to carry a spare.

btw, you don't need the factory connector to make this work, just get barrel connectors that fit snugly on the vr and wire it that way.

btw II, make sure it's grounded well.

 

theres a sticky at top first gen page tells you how to do it and has part number, its the easiest way to go.
