vacuum pump testing

What kind of number should i get if i were
to hook up a vacuum guage
to test the vacuum pump?

Should be in the mid to high 20's when measured in inches, I think.

These numbers at at idle right? I think the vac gets stronger as the rpm's climb. This makes burnouts possible if you have a weak pump like me!!!
