Use linkage from '02 for crossover?
Use linkage from '02 for crossover?
Hi everyone, this is my first post and I wanted to say that I have gained a wealth of knowledge from this forum. Thanks to all!
I am beginning a crossover steering conversion and I have the chance to get the 'T' style steering linkage from an '02. Without seeing this linkage myself, can any one tell me if any of the dimensions are close between the '02 and my '91.5? I thought it may be simpler that fabbing a new draglink and steering arm for the 60...
BTW, 6" lift going on soon.

Not sure if that will fit for you... I would avoid actually using the T style linkage... keep the tie rod that comes on the dana 60....
I used a Tie rod from the stock 1st gen dana 60 to fabricate the drag link. just cut sleve and weld... pretty easy fab job. you can do some plug welds for extra security too.. With my 6" lift, I have a 3" block mounted to the top of my pass side knuckle, and then a flat top arm above that... with a dropped pitman arm, the drag link sits flat for ideal steering geometry.
The shims that come on the skyjacker springs are about 7 degrees and put my caster at 0... this makes it very difficult to drive, but does make the front CV joint function. What I did, which is common, is to dissassebmle the CV joint and grind the tabs that cause the clearance problem. I also would recommend using a 4 degre shim or so... I didnt have one laying around so now i have some 2.5 degree shims that oppose the 7 degree shims for a net of abuot 4.5 degrees.... that combined with a nice rancho steering stabilizer works well.
I am still planning on adding a panhard bar though.
