Urgent transmission help!
I just got my goerend converter in the mail this week. Everything is ready to pull out except the transmission lines are giving me trouble. I've been soaking the fitting in PB Blaster. I've been using line wrenches and trying to carefully remove them. I just broke one of the brass fittings off into the tranmission itself. The other fitting is wanting to break off too! I'm wishing I had just left my truck alone now. Can anyone give me some advice? Thanks.
Not to worry. The broken threaded portion in the tranny should be fairly easier to remove after the tranny is on the ground. You can try to use an easy out but they can sometimes be more trouble. An easy out is tapered and locks into the fitting when turning it counter clockwise. If the fitting is really tight it will cause the easy out to actually tighten the broke portion in the hole and make it not want to move. I have taken out small broken threads by jamming a stout screw driver into the broken fitting and turning it out after applying a little heat. The main thing is don't panic and leave the big hammer in the tool box alone. Also, any shavings left in the tranny can be deadly.
Heat will help remove that fitting, just be careful not to overheat the casing.
Install your easyout, heat the perimeter of the casing around the fitting that's broken off, and spray a little pb on it.... the PB will be sucked into the joint / threads of the fitting / casing. Do this a couple of times until you feel you can do the final heating, and slowly apply pressure to the easyout with the heat applied.
Anytime I've run into situations like this, multiple applications of pb & heat in a repetitive order has allowed the fitting to come out.
Worst case scenario is to have to drill the entire brass fitting out and re-tap the threads, but if you schmear the tap / drill bit with grease, it will grab most of the filings.
If it' comes to that, overfill trans with fluid, and the holes plugged. Pull the plug and allow the fluid pressure to blow out that fitting hole.
Hope this helps.

The heat along with the pb allowed me to get the other threaded end out with the easy out. Those things were on there good. I ended up having to cut grooves into one of the female ends of the fitting to take it off the line fitting. I got everything back together and I'm loving my new converter. Thanks for all the help.
