turning up line presure

how do i turn up the line presure on my 518 i want the trans to shift firmer

You'll need to pull the pan, so as to access a couple of Allen headed screws. . . . . . . give me a minute . . . .

If I'm not mistaken, one can adjust the pressure without pulling the VB.

For grins and giggles, read through this TransGo kit install thread and notice the last, bottom/right image found on page 5. It shows where and how to set it.

what about adjusting the tv cable i thought that is what that did. mabey i said this wroung what i want is a firmer shift from 1 to 2, its starting to get sort and i dont realy like it. what can i do to make the truck shift firmer

Adjust the bands... loose bands will have a soft shift. The 1-2 adjuster is on the outside of the trans. Do a search here for "Bands"..

where is the band adjustment on the out side of the trans

Lets see if this works.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The front band adjustment is above the shifter on the drivers side.
Loosen the jam nut, Snug it down, then back off 2 turns and lock the jam nut.
