Turbo Questions

I am currently borrowing an HX35w from a friend of mine, and it has made a big difference in the performance of my truck. However, I have heard about people doing the 60mm compressor uprade for the H1C.

My question is: Which would be better? The HX35/12cm or upgrading my H1C to the 60mm compressor/wheel?

I have a 12cm housing on loan from a friend, and I could use that to mate up with my H1C in place of the 18.5cm housing.

I owe my friend for the 12cm housing (don't worry Randy), and I also need to consider whether I keep the HX35 which I have to pay for as well.

I'm trying to figure out the best combination for the money. I am not going to be doing any serious mods to my truck later on if that helps. Any input would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance,

Dawson

well from what you're saying you have two choices

12CM with 58/56 HX35 or
12CM with 60MM housing upgrade on the H1C

I'd go with the latter, because it will support anything from stock and more than the other set up.

agreed, the 60mm will move more air thus supporting more power.

Thanks for the replies guys. Any idea what the 60mm upgrade costs? I've heard that HTT and GDS have them. Is one of these carriers better than the other (better price, customer service, etc.)? I just found a thread in the sticky, and it seems like a pretty easy swap. Is that true?

Thanks in advance,

Dawson

I checked the GDS website, but I didn't find any prices listed. To any of you guys that have them, do you remember what the product number is? It looks like it is product id CH-05. Does this include just the wheel/housing, or does it come with a backing plate, etc.?

Thanks again guys,

Dawson

Its just the wheel and housing. I havent heard what they sound like in person yet but everyone says they are alot louder than the stock turbo.

load it up, lug it at low rpm and put the fuel to it and it really sounds like a Jet on takeoff. The MWE slot contributes to this.

Good luck with the exhaust housing, I broke 2 bolts on mine even after soaking it in penetrating oil. And then it took a 4lb sledge to get the housing and center section apart. Just the compressor side is simple though, just takes a few minutes.

I am just borrowing the HX35 from a friend. If I have to buy the HX35 and decide to upgrade to the 60mm, then I have an extra housing lying around. I'm just trying to get the best combination for the cost and not buy two items when I can just buy one and create the same (or very close) combination.

Since it will save me money, it seems that I should upgrade my H1C to the 60mm comp/wheel for about $2??, and then add the 12cm wastegated housing that I have.

Thanks again guys,

Dawson
