Turbo fluttering help
Turbo fluttering help
It has been awhile since I have posted here, but I always stop by to read awhile. My truck got some upgrades last summer, with a 3200 spring, and a 4inch ASA intake and AFE Filter. I also changed the turbo housing to 16CM. 6 months after modifying the truck I am starting to get a turbo flutter on low RPM's fifth gear more then forth. I have read about changing my driving habits. I don't feel there is a great connection between the turbo housing and exhaust and have played with adjusting the clamp and wedging the exhaust into a tighter fit for better sealing, still not pleased. I also have a stock exhaust.
My questions would be should I straight pipe my truck, would this help!!??? I don't have a boost gauge either so I should probably get one of those. How much is to much boost? Will high RPM's send out a head gasket faster then high boost? just having fun while trying to stay safe and cheap.

The only way to fix the surge is an MWE slot. Get a compressor upgrade kit from GDS or HTT.
Straight piping will make it harder to hear the surge.
With the stock injectors and a 16 cm housing, you can't turn the pump up far enough to make too much boost. If the head gasket pops on your truck it wasn't the boost.
A boost gauge would be nice, but it's not a "must" like a pyrometer.
