trans shifting into OD when not desired
trans shifting into OD when not desired
I rebuilt the trans.
Used transgo shift kit, superior throttle valve, and sonnax governor valve.
When i drive (approx 35-45) with very light throttle it shifts into OD.
As soon as you give it fuel it will downshift back to third.
I cut the orange wire and put it to a toggle switch to rule out the PCM doing this.
If the switch is on and the trans is in OD it stays when you give it fuel.
My thought is the OD solonoid, just doesn't make since though.
If that were bad I either would get an immediate 3-4 shift or none at all.
Any thoughts welcomed.
thanks

I took that out of the system by running the orange wire to ground thru the switch.
The blue wire is always hot when the key is on.
Correct?

well, being you have the toggle switch off the orange wire, you are overiding the tps... So, to troubleshoot your problem I would leave the switch in a off position if you still have the orange wire connected and mess with your tps, or install a potentiameter to dial in your o/d shiftpoint to your liking... There is a few articles in the sticky on both of these procedures...Good luck
Don't forget to check the spring in the throttle linkage for the one that goes down to the transmission. I had a heck of a time with my OD and everyone kept saying TPS (among other things) but it wound up being that *%$! spring was not pulling that kickdown back hard enough so if you hit a bump or whatever sometimes it would jump out of OD. If the spring is gone, it could just as easily jump into OD at lower speeds. In my case, the previous owner had replaced what was supposed to be there with a weenie spring.
