Tranny Problems?

I have recently bought a 92 D250 with the A518 and especially today as I was driving home it didnt seem to want to kick into O/D and as soon as I would accelerate very much at around 80 cliks she would lose power all of a sudden and it wasnt till I was almost home she finally let me get above 80 and it was revving high like it hadnt clicked into O/D also have any of you done a ball joint job on your 2 wheel 1st gens as I have to get that done for insurrance reasons and they are worn out and I was quoted around 450 just for the joints alone [ the ones to go in would be spicer units] not with labour so I am hoping to get around the labour part if its not a huge job since its really cold out here right now and no shop to work in thanks again for your help in the past.

Trans has a temp sensor in it and the PCM will NOT shift into OD if the fluid is too cold. Don't know what temp that is.
The PCM will also down shift out of OD if you accelerate too briskly around 45 - 50 mph which is about 80km/h.
AND the PCM will shift out of OD if the trans temp gets too hot.

Don't know about the ball joints - I had to get *****, links, and tie rods plus I had him do brakes and shocks also and that was nearly 4 yrs ago....

Look in the sticky for the procedure to test and adjust your tps. Could be your problem.

That very well may be it cause as soon as I accelerate very hard at about 50 she loses power and I have to try to get er into o/d again

It sounds like it is coming out of od and with the stock gov spring depending on what gears you have in the rear 50 may be all it wants to go. So it will defuel and lose power. That would point to a tps problem. Also amazon .com has the joints for half about half of the price you got but I dont know what shipping would add.

The lack of power makes me think fuel filter. If you have the pedal on the floor because there's no power, the trans is gonna drop out of OD.
