Which tranny line is which?
Which tranny line is which?
Pardon my ignorance, but i have never needed to know this until now. The tranny has two lines that go to the cooler and back. Is it out the front, in the rear or out the rear, in the front?
More info
I am installing a remote tranny filter because I had one on my shelf for another project long past and it has a tranny temp guage with it.
Now that I am working on the mount while waiting for an answer to the above question, I have found that the plumbing lines for the factory tranny cooler set-up are 1/2" and the lines for my remote filter are 3/8".
If I do this set-up, will it be too restricting?
and
If I do not use the remote filter, where can I put the temp sending unit on the tranny? In other words, where do other people put the tranny temp sending unit?

So what about the line size and my remote filter?
Personally I think it would be best to stay with the same size line and not have any reduction.
If you are using the harness and ECM from your donor you will need to leave the OD temp sensor plugged into the harness but just zip tie it out of the way and put your temp sender in the hole. May need to reduce down from 1/4 pipe to 1/8 pipe depending on the sender thread size.

Leaving the sensor plugged in will read outside air which will be too cold to shift into OD. Unplug the sensor and plug in a 1000 ohm resistor. That fools the PCM into thinking the trans temp is high enough to allow the shift into OD.
