tough to get into gear
Lately my 93 has been giving me a fight going into gear when stopped. It is not the clutch because it is not grinding and it acts the same with the engine off. It just won't slip into gear.
If I want to go into reverse I usually put it in 4th first then it seems to slip in most of the time.
1st and 2nd seem to act the same way. If you move around the shifter and keep trying it will slip in.
It shifts fine once I am moving down the road.
Check the oil and it is still 1.5qts or so over full.
Ideas on what to check? Could the ball in the top of the trans be worn?

I have the same exact problem and I have a new clutch. I hear ya about the reverse that is a dog to get in to gear. Sometimes my getrag slips in sweet all the time and sometimes I have to put it in every gear to straighten all the gears out. I have always wondered if it is going bad or not.

Check the bushing on the upper of the clutch pedal where the clutch master connects,,,, This will wear and cause some similar issues, I had the ssane and found that the pin was worn 1/2 way through, I weded it up, groung it round again, and 45K miles later still okay

What about the shifter top? Is there something in the forks, sliders, bushings that could be causing us a hard time to get into 1st and 2nd? My clutch pedal bushing is fine, and im not grinding gears, but I have to do a dance with the shifter by putting it into third every time before 2nd or first at a stop light.
