I know if it doesnt knock or have a leak, its not a cummins, but this is a new one. sounds like it could just be a sticky valve or something. ive heard of putting trans fluid into the engine in gas vehicles, and that sometimes works, but i didnt know if i should attempt it on the cummins. if you guys say its ok, how much would i put in? if not, what else could it be? thanks in advance

 

Have you just tried adjusting the valves ?

 

Was it a noise that started all of a sudden or was ir gradually getting louder? How many miles since the last valve adjustment?

 

i have never adjusted the valves, dont really know how. its been getting louder gradually

 

I would try adjusting the valves I think they are supposed to be done every 30,000 miles

 

Cummins recomends the first valve adjust at 24,000 miles then every 50,000 thereafter.
