Tone Ring

Tone Ring
I swapped a 2nd gen drivetrain under my 1st gen. The only port to get a speed reading from a manual is the original ABS port. I changed it to a speed sensor, but because I put a locker in it, the carrier is heavier. There's no room for a tone ring anymore. I want to machine it larger from the inside so I can heat it, tap it on from the back side of the carrier and let it shrink tight. It would still be right against the back of the ring gera in its original position. Has anyone done anything like this? Any general info before I tackle it? In theory, I see no problems but maybe someone else knows of something. Thanks for your help.

That seems strange...
Anyway, tone rings have been modified or even tack-welded to carriers. (Thinking 8.8" ring on ford 9") what you're saying should be do-able.
