Tires

i was thinking of starting this tread because there is a lot of talk of tires me personnaly i like thin tires here is a pic and some info on them
on the right there is my michelin x xl military tires
they are awesome they are 8ply military wich is supposed to be like 12 to 14 ordinary ply
they are 9.00x16 wich is like 36inch high tire
single weight rating is 3970 at 80 psi cold
they are very good in woods and in mud
sliperry on snow but friend of mine had ice nails put on them said he his sattisfied

on the left are my winter tires
they are uniroyal laredo lug with ice nails in them
they are 8 ply rating 7.50 x 16 with is like 31 inch high
they are awesome for any year round driving mud snow etc bring it on
they rate around 2500lbs for single axle use

the michelin set me back 500$
the laredo 400$
I LIKE THIN TIRE BECAUSE THEY DONT TAKE TOO MUCH MPGS AND THEY GET THE JOB DONE

PLESE EVERY ONE PUT SOME PICS OF YOURS AND SOME INFO

ProComp makes good tires, at a really good price. On trucks as heavy as ours thogh i'd expect only about 20-25k out of the MT's and probably 30-35k on the A/Ts. Just remember, the more agressive the tread, then usually the less milage you'll get.
Yokohamas (sp?) get great milage and traction too.

I am running Yokohamas now and I really like them. I'm running the HT-S tread, not what you're looking for, but I can attest to them having great on road traction on both dry and wet conditions.
And they were a LOT less $$ than the big name tires. My 265/75-16 were $90 each.

Why are you having so much trouble finding tires that fit your rims? There should be a huge selection for 16's and 16.5's

16's are easy to find and find fairly cheap, but 16.5's are spendy. I have 16.5x10 rims with 31/10.50's and they look way too small. I just dont want to spend $700 for better looking ones yet.

Those military tires look ok though. I am more of a fan of 38x14.50's, but that has to wait.

16s are easy to find. 16.5s are not. Hardly anyone makes them anymore

I have 4 235/85/16.5 m/s tires that have approximately 80% of tread life left to them. I have them on 16.5 wheels are would gladly give them away if you come pick them up. The downside is, of course, I live in Modesto, CA.
If you're planning on a visit out this way let me know or I will have to just set them out in the front yard at a yard sale.

Dodge 92, how are the road manners of those XLs? I really like those even more now. Where can a guy find a set of them in the lower 48?
Fearthedeere I have 33x12.50x 16.5 Kuhmo Venture MTs. They are a good wearing tire and I have had good luck with them. I will be selling them with the chrome mods as soon as I find a new set of 16" tires.
I like the Mastercraft tires and have had great luck with them in the past.
