tire sizes?

It is time to take the 33x12.50x16.5 Kuhmo MTs off the truck. I don't like the wide tire and am looking for something around the same height but narrow. I have a set of plain jane 16" x6" wheels. Been thinking about 265x70s or have given lots of thought to the 255x80x16. Just wondering if they will be too skinny. I think the 285s would be too wide for the 6" wheels.
Anyone have any pics of 255 80 16s mounted on a first gen?

Im running 305-70-16. I had 33x12.5 16.5 and didnt really like them .the new size makes the truck drive better. and the off set for the rims makes the diff. I whent from a 10" wheel to a 8"

I am wanting to get away from the wide tires. They throw too much stuff on the side of the truck. Plus I only have 6" wheels, I will upgrade the wheels later down the road. I really am leaning toward the 255-80R 16. Just would like to see some pics of them on a truck.

I have 265/75s on stock steel rims. No pics though, but they look nice on the truck...not too wide or too skinny.

I have pics in TDR rr's of 265r75's on my 89. They're supposed to be right at 32" tall. They are on an el cheapo aftermarket rim, don't know how wide they are. I think you're looking for 255r85's. Never heard of a 80 with 255. Stocker 235r85's are 32" tall as well.

tire size

I'm also running 265/75/16 BFG A/T KO's , they look like they belong on the truck and have held up very well I think. I do not pull anything heavy though, and their only D rated: but they do have a 50,000 mile warr.

Hope this helps, James
