Timing mark question
Timing mark question
I wasn't ready to rotate the crank yet when I took the pic so I counted the teeth to see where the marks lined up. I am trying to get a baseline on this engine and since the pump has been replaced, I want to know how close to a stock setting the timing is.
When the crank to middle gear marks are in line, the middle gear to upper gear marks lin up the "0" with the "E". At the same time, the top of the pump is about 3/4 inch from the head.
Words of wisdom appreciated.

Ps. I looked through the sticky and could not find anything on pump timing other than the "Bump" post.

I will bump you.
With the pump being replaced and no new timing mark I think the only way to get timing back to spec is by either a timing tool or bar your engine to the correct place and take the pump to a shop and have them set it and lock it. Then put it back on and make new marks.

timeing the pump for tdc is easy, you point the key slot at the line up mark which is about 5 o clock looking strait at the pump.
