hmmm, i think i'm narrowing it down between an hx-35/40 hybrid and a super 40? would the super 40 rule over the hybrid? pros, cons, comparisons, differences?

The super40 has a 65mm turbine wheel and true 4" exhaust outlet.

A hybrid will still use the stock turbine wheel and stuff. (60mm)

Hard to compare to hybrid.

i'd go HX40 (super) if you can afford, look for one used first. T3 exhaust... remember that

ok. so now, narrowed down to a super 40 or htb2. both have a true 4" outlet. super 40 needs a t3 flange. htb2 has a 62mm inducer, 65mm exducer and a 12cm housing. i'd prefer to have a 14cm or 16cm. that being said, should i look for a super 40 only or do htb2's have other sized housings to choose from? super and regular 40's typically come with a 16cm housing, correct? what are standard dimensions them? sorry about all the questions. just doing my homework so that i can do this right the first and only time.

you can get a custom s300 that is a 62/71/14. It's highly recommended but it's also very expensive.

Parker, How could a 60/65 turbo outflow a 62/71 ? I realize the 40 would spool faster but....botta compensate some spool up for air!
Brandon, look at this...

Keep in mind that is a "base" 62/71 that a shop hasn't "upgraded", but it still shows a Super HX40 will outflow the 62/71.

I love my he351 (stock turbo off 04.5-07 cummins). It has a 9cm housing on it which spools extremely quick, and even though it is a small housing, it runs really cool and tows great. The quick spoolup is very nice and runs clean, it woulc clean those pods up a lot! It has a 4" exhaust outlet. And I bet you will be able to find this turbo easily for under $400. I could hit 40 lbs of boost with mine when i had the wastegate turnbuckled shut but I wanted to save my head gasket so put a spring on it so i got it down to 35 lbs and now i'm at 30 lbs with the new coolertubz. I really like this turbo, just cruisin at 60, my egts are about 600. It really surprised me how cool it runs, I have never seen it get over 1500 when racin. I have towed a 5th wheel with 12 1-ton bales on it which in total was over 24,000 lbs and the egts weren't even a problem, it never got over 1200. Its a great turbo and for the price you can get one of these for, you cant go wrong with it. Don't waste your money with that h1. it will just run hot

I think it would be interesting to know what something like a PDR 62/71/14 would flow. I bet it would outflow their super40

It is just like every other "62mm" S300 wheel. Just because it is PDR doesn't mean it is anything special.

I was afraid someone might say that.
I do have a question though. The map charts of those turbos compare the super40 with a 61mm s300. Is that really the same wheel as the 62/71/14? Like, is the 62 mm wheel really a 61mm wheel or what?

Some places call it a 61.5mm wheel. Technically that is rounded off too, IIRC.
I am sure the performance shops dubbed the 62mm thing since it sounds better.

I am sure there are custom 62mm wheels out there, but you will know it when you see the price tag.
