thoughts on fuel system

i tried to search for this, but for some reason search is not working for me. i have a 98 with a 93 12v and nv4500 dodge 2500 4x4. bought truck a few months ago and want to do some "enhancing" to it. i recently got the following items to put on it. fuel pin, 3200 prm spring, gauge pod w/ pyro, boost, fuel pressure and will be putting in gauges first as recommended. i am wanting to help the fuel system in this setup also by installing an electric pump to push fuel to ip. i was planning on deleting the lift pump on the block also, here are my questions-
1- do i want to keep lift pump?
2- how much pressure do i need to push to ip?
3- i am replacing all fuel lines due to the way previous owner ran them- what size would you suggest
4- should i go with aftermarket filter setup or continue to use the original?
i am not looking for a barnburner or pro pulling truck, just something that will be dependable and get best mileage i can without driving like old lady. truck was originally a v-10 auto and when that croaked, they put in a 93 12v with nv4500 trans. install was very clean and professional- it was not hacked up and all needed parts were taken from donor truck or dealer bought. i love this thing and have been looking a long time for one like this- 2500 extended cab with shortbed 4x4 in white........texas gets way hot... anyway- i am looking for any thoughts on this from people in the know. thank you much fellers.
bill
p.s.- a buddy said it was idling high, about 900 rpm- what should it be and how to lower it?

I am on my 3rd factory lift pump if that tells you anything, next time I need one I will probably look into the 2nd gen piston pump, I would love a air dog or fass system but their up their in price. The funny thing is with the price of the two lift pumps I could of been close to getting a air dog or fass.

You want to be in the low teens on fuel pressure. I have my air dog set at 8 at idle and is referenced up from there. If you are going with electric then its not a bad idea to get new filters and lines. 3/8" will do just fine. A fuel heater would be something you should think about if getting rid of the factory stuff and you get cold weather.

Side note, how did you get the old engine past state inspection in a newer truck?

fuel system thoughts

Anything 25years an older or a diesel in Texas goes threw a safety check thats it.14.50 is the cost of the inspection sticker. diesel safety check stops at 2006 diesel. The new diesels get plugged into the computer thats 40-60.00 depending on were u r in texas, you would think it would be the same everywere....

well i installed pyro and boost, still gathering parts for fuel pressure. i called the local cummins parts house and found the 1st gen piston lift pump for $79- will pick that up in the morning, called a buddy that works for a fitting company and will have all new fittings, adapters, etc to replace all the fuel lines fron the tank forward. i think i will also be replacing the hose into the tank. all hoses will be going to 3/8 hose and i will be putting the pressure sensor after the filter, before the i.p. on another note- what kind of boost numbers should i be getting? just looking for something to compare to- anyway- things are rolling right along and new fuel system should be good to go real soon..........cant wait to put in new fuel pin and 3200 spring
