They put that kind of hook on the propane bobtails they build at Arrow Tank. I'll find out where they get them Monday. I'm sure they are a commodity item.

 

they have a yard with trucks too. Not a lot but more than I expected. atleast last time I was up there.

 

Yeah I Know him Personally he does have truck's if he has any 880's they might have a set .

Ok, so the bottom line is there is no factory part number and I was able to get brian squared away by simplysmn by simply revising this old thread...

 

I agree with them being military, I had a set on my 77 M880 and my current crew had them on there as well. It was an ex Air Force truck. Plan on using them on my crew when I get around to building my bumpers for it.

Earlier today I spoke to the folks at Boyce Equipment. They recommended looking in the M880 family of military trucks (including the M881, M882, etc.) They were quite helpful, but unfortunately they haven't had one of these units on their yard in quite some time and did not know where to suggest I look .

There are a number of aftermarket options but they all appear to involve drilling the frame.

 

Reviving an old thread in the hope that someone has a figured out a good way to mount tow hooks on a First Gen? I was trying to haul a large load of firewood out of the woods yesterday, sank in mud up to the axles and had to wrap a tow strap around the springs/spring hangers to get pulled out. Tow hooks would have been quite handy...

 

I did pick up 2 sets of those hooks from a military surplus seller on-line a few years ago...want to say I found them through E-bay sellers?? They are squirreled away somewhere now but would like to dig them out and get them installed on Patches and Sno-Ball.

 

I'll try to remember to look at my M880 and see how they are mounted. Seems like they are mounted to a plate (like in the pic) and then to the front cross member at an angle if I recall. All the ones I've ever seen were bent, so a little further strengthening along the cross member is warranted, especially with the Cummins up there instead of the 318.
