TFOD-HD2 shift/reprogramming kit
TFOD-HD2 shift/reprogramming kit- Shifts hard!
So, I've been driving the truck around, it's a different beast entirely. The thing is that it shifts real hard, and almost seems to shudder or shake the engine because it shifts so hard in 1-2 and 2-3. The 3-4 shift seems just about right. Anyways, I installed the whole kit, including the servo spacers... How hard should these things shift, and is harder always better? I hear the harder the better, but is there a point where it's too hard? I haven't called transgo but I plan on it tomorrow... I see there is a TFOD-Diesel kit that isn't supposed to be so aggressive. Any thoughts? I want to tow a lot, but probably never over 15K...
OH, does anyone know if this kit allows the converter to fill in park?

my trans has the transgo kit in it and it shifts late and hard I tow maybe 6to8000 pounds with it shifting hard but mine is set up with the kd lever tywraped 1/8 from full travel and works great
KD lever = kick down lever
from what I can immagine, at least on a diesel, there is sooo much torque, that if it shifts that hard I can see broken u-joints, busted torque converter bolts ect.....
Sounds like u got a full on racing kit. Id call trans go and ask them.

Firm, quick shifts are good and will feel harsh under full load acceleration. But that effect shoud be less and not feel harsh at all under leisurely to moderate acceleration - just quick, snappy shifts. It sounds like something is wrong, unless you're describing the shifts under full romp. Can you be more specific?
The TF-2 kit in the 727 in my Chrysler bangs hard into 2nd going 70mph at WOT and chirps the RR tire. But normal acceleration is hardly noticeable at all, just shorter, quicker shifts. I know that is a different application, but the trans is virtually the same (minus the OD) and the kit probably is too, for all I know.

Uh oh, it seems to shift better under full load, full acceleration. Under light/medium acceleration is when it shifts so hard, it does seem to shudder immediately after shifting too, for a very short period of time, unless under full load... I wouldn't doubt that I got something wrong- I've never done this before.
my 1-2 and 2-3 shifts are hard and o/d shifts just right i have my o/d on a switch no tps but the harder the better to a limit soft slow shifts make heat and wear clutch material which will wear out a tranny real quick if i baby mine it shifts real hard but if i drive harder it shifts nice i had a 1 piece drive shaft made for mine that works good and use goog quality u joints
