Go with chain, it'll never rot off again, cheap and simple and permanent.

Does it look like this? Because roughly under the driver seat (on the frame) is where mines at...

I hate buying anything anymore. Most of the stuff you buy is cheaply made but still expensive. No the thing under the floor is round almost like a diaphram valve, or an egr valve on my AMC 6cyl. What is that thing called. I hate to keep refering to it as a doohickie.

Here is what I did to fix the problem. Turned out really well.

This is the thing I cant figure out what it is. The main line from tank goes in then comes out and to the motor. Then there is another line with a bolt plugging it. Can I get rid of this hunk of junk whatchamagiger?

That is a manual selector-valve to switch fuel between two seperate tanks.

If you plan to throw it away, give it to me.

Those things are very useful for all kinds of projects and are not cheap.

One real handy use is to run one line to an electric-pump, such that the fuel in the trucks tank can be transferred to something else by simply changing a valve and flipping a switch.

Or, you can always plumb in a second tank.

It appears that the operating-lever is missing from that one, but they can be had at most decent parts-stores. (Or, on closer inspection, it is probably on the other side of that red sheetmetal.)

It most likely is a Weatherhead brand.

If you want to remove it, simply put a straight-line hose-barb in it's place.

I think I'm going to eliminate it all together. I'm going to put a new piece of rubber line where they split the fuel line. Is regular 3/8" rubber fuel line okay to use with diesel fuel? Low pressure or high pressure line?

By line upgrade what do you mean? Larger hard line? Or just new? Can I just use regular fuel hose from the auto store, low pressure or high pressure?
Thanks guys

Regular fuel ine hose works. it will say if it is diesel fuel capable on the line. Low pressure works. You only get pressure after the lift pump. Which is still low psi.
