Tailgate latch fix it up!
Hi everybody!
I finally located a tailgate for my 92' My bro inlaw came up with it somehow Anyways, after welding up the spotwelds on the sides that were cracked out and getting it media blasted at work, my cousin painted it to match my truck ( light champange metallic with dark copper metallic pearl)
I was having trouble with the latches giving me fits, one time they would close next they would not latch.
So off the DTR and the sticky to see if there was a solution. Sure enough found the info and followed the directions and now have a fully functional sraight paint matched tailgate!!! I do have one thing to add, the sticky said to get the clips from the dealership, some others there said to use carb linkage clips that are metal. I used a pack of door lock rod clips. Help! part#75450 dorman 3.99 at oreillys. It has the right clips for the tailgate latch rods. Here is a pic of the tailgate in question. I want to thank all for the help and knowledge here!!

Earlier Mopar part numbers listed in this forum have been superceded. The new Mopar numbers are:
Passenger side: 4658676
Driver side: 4658677
The clips are plastic, two per side, and the passenger side units are white while the driver side units are black. Mopar gets about $3/clip.
Important thing to note is the clips need to be inserted into the respective holes BEFORE inserting the rods. It is a tedious job; I doubled a coathanger, bent it into a hook, and used it to pull the clip into place onto the rod at the latch handle end of the rod (center of the tailgate).

Thanks for the compliments!! originally i wanted the letters to be the light color but i found out masking them off was going to be a bear!!!! So i am planning on getting vinyl letters cut to match the DODGE RAM script. I am sooo happy to finally have a working tailgate. It being a non LE i had no control over, like they say beggers can't be choosers! haha
