Exclamation Stumped..Again!!!

I have been sharing my frustrating tale of fuel injection issues. In a nut shell things boiled down to the injection pump. So I cahnged it on the week-end. The truck -a '92 started like new! All day yesterday for short runs it shut off and started as it should. Today I drove to work - 35 mins and I am experiencing the same problems of not idleing and will not start - just turns over as if no fuel is at the pump. I have changed the pick up pump and filter and now the injection pump. Any other ideas of what could be causing this? When the truck is running it runs perfectly.

Thanks- Derrick

I agree. Plumb a piece of clear hose in before the lift pump and see if it's sucking the air in from before the lift pump.

Also check the fuel heater gasket.

Thanks - I will try the hose option to look for air but I am not sure I have a fuel heater to check the gasket on? Where is it on a '92? I did remove the plunger from the shut off without any difference in what happens other than I have to stall the engine to shut it down. I am guessing it has to be sucking air from somewhere?

The fuel heater is right above the fuel filter.

Smile Running lke a top!

Thanks for everyone's advice - it was sucking air from a supply line. Repaired and working like a top- good for another 1.2 million!

Cheers- Derrick
