I'm sure he'll chime in, but I think it was just a lil ol street truck that got out of hand. Back in the day, 600+rwhp was a huge number, usually even beating the p-pumper trucks, so there was no real reason to go away from the VE.

He's admitted that recently he's gotten close to p-pumping it more than once, but hey, why be like all the other cool kids, when you can make your own club??

Well what would you like to know? I bought my pickup in 98 and it was bone stock. I got hooked up with Bradley's diesel injection shop and I had them turn up the pump. I liked how much power and smoke (I was 18 years old ) it had. From there I kept adding parts. In 2003 I got hooked up With Ponci's Diesel Center and I went to my first dyno and put down a something like 317hp and then I turned the propane on and got 330?? I would have to look at my old dyno sheets from back then to for the actual numbers. From there I have added a bunch of parts that would be taken off a few months later because I wanted to try something new. In 2004 I went to the first gen day up at Piers's shop in Canada and put down 420hp and then 520ish with water meth. I was running a single HX40/16. Somebody made a comment about using drugs so I thought I would see what else I could do with it by adding twins. Didn’t really gain that much. I was getting right around 440 and then it would go 540ish on water meth with a 12mm pump . Then in 2005 KTA came out with the 14mm head and rotor. This changed the game big time. I used the same dyno and gained 102.5hp without changing anything else. I did some tuning and put down 639hp and then went 680 with water meth up on Piers’s dyno again. That was all fine and dandy until I seized the pump a few months later. After a couple of other failed pumps I finally fixed all of my fuel issues and I now have one that has stayed together and I am currently running it. In the mean time while trying to get better numbers I hurt my motor. I lost power, but we couldn’t figure out what happened so I added nitrous to make up the difference and I stayed above 600hp all the way until 2010. That’s when we decided to build a new motor for an event in Vegas. When we took my old motor apart we found out that the cam gear slipped off of the nose .440

Well the new motor was in for a couple of weeks and we left for the event in Vegas. I managed to put down 641 on diesel and 707 with nitrous and water meth. I was kind of disappointed, but that’s how it goes. Now here is the funny part they were corrected numbers and I got a bunch of you know what over that. So I did some more tuning and went to a couple of more dyno shows and was putting down 640-660 I don’t really know the exact numbers right now, but then in October 2010 I put down 708hp. I had rerouted my nitrous and did a bunch of other things. Were they corrected numbers?? Beats me I don’t really care anymore. My First Gen has been sitting ever since with a brand new motor with maybe 500 miles on it, new tranny and duel disk clutch, redid the front axel, and a bunch more stuff. It’s covered in about an inch of dirt and it probably won’t even fire up. I put in new batteries before I parked it, but when I checked it a few months ago I had to jump it.
I took tomorrow off of work and plan on getting it started so I can drag race it at Ponci's event this coming Saturday. When I get it running I plan on giving it a bath and cleaning it up.

Oh yeah and Jason Sands (JQmile) called me out for a dyno competition that we haven’t scheduled yet. I hope that it is still a ways off, because I have big plans. After this weekend it’s going under the knife. I’m not telling anyone what I am doing, well maybe close friends. Theoretically it will work. Well I am hoping so anyways. I have some people helping me and I have gathered some parts. For the next 7 weeks it is hunting season so I won’t have too much time to work on it, but I will try my best to get some of the small stuff done.

I probably didn’t answer your question. I don’t know what happened it just did. I found a good combination of parts and I have spent a small fortune. I was single at the time without house payments, a boat, a mega cab (tow pickup), new car for the wife etc, etc. Jason lit a fire under me to start working on it.

To tell you the truth it makes me a little sad because I don’t do anything with it anymore. It sits outside and collects dust and spiders. Maybe it’s finally time to get rid of it, but I won’t do that until I show Jason how a first gen is really supposed to run. Don’t think I am being hard on Jason I’m just ribbing him a little.

That's sad....my first gen got hit twice while it's been parked along the side of the street for the past few months. Finally got it fixed, and it's going in my driveway. People can start hitting my second gen now

Good cause I am running again now too, and will hopefully dyno within a few weeks. Got the stupid freeze plug fixed. Got some plans. Going to hit Brown's Diesel and spend a day on the dyno fiddling with "stuff." You DO have me curious as to what your "big plans" are....wonder if it has "dual" anywhere in the outline.....hmmm.....

Yeah it is sad, but I got it running today and I got most of the dirt and spiders blown off so I can go racing on Saturday.

JQ I tried dual inlets to the pump and that didn’t help one bit on the test stand. I don’t think it would hurt anything, but I didn’t gain one cc of fuel from trying it with a standalone pump going to it. Maybe I should put dual exhausts on, or maybe dual air fresheners are the key. How about dual cup holders or dual rearview mirrors so I can watch you eat my smoke. I’m telling you my lips are sealed.

TRLMAN- Those pictures are great. I thought all of those stickers added at least 50hp, boy was I wrong. If you look at the motor pic closely you can see my old propane regulator. That was good for about 17hp and 47ftlbs of torque. Maybe I should put it back on. I bet I could gain a little more with it now that I have the air to support it. When I was running it I was so over fueled it didn’t work that good.
Hey JQ is that you’re secret? Are you putting propane on it? Now that I’m thinking about it I saved all of my old parts.

Glad to see ya got it running....you'll have to see if you can improve on your best....what is it, like a 15-something? Stupid manual transmissions

Naaah, propane isn't my secret, although there are a few people working on top secret projects....can't say who yet though, some of their parts may end up on my truck!

Just wondering why this is? Is it simply because propane is adding more fuel? Or does it have the effect of advancing timing as well?

Propane has a btu/gal of ~91,500 while diesel's energy density is ~129,500...so from that perpective, it would be more beneficial to just burn more diesel, right?

Is it simply that you are up against the VEs ability to pump any more fuel, such that propane is a means around that?

Thanks, Stomp. That's exactly what I wanted to hear, I think. I just read everyone making a big deal over what you've done that I just wanted to know about it with more details.
