Stock injector HP potential

We talk frequently about tweaking our VE pumps and put bigger intercoolers, pipes and exhaust inorder to get more performance / power. However, it seems that we can only tweak the fuel/air so much that the injectors (if not egts) become the limiting factor.

What I'd like to know is: what is the maximum HP potential of the stock injectors at maximum fuel /air supply capability of a tweaked (ground/aftermarket pin, turned screws, big I/C and tubes/exhaust, etc) stock VE pump and turbo?

I made 283 with my stock ic injectors and stock auto trans. With a 5 speed or a built auto I'm sure 300 would be easily within reach.

So that's 40 to 90 hp more than the 160hp stock tuning of our engines.

Now, when aftermarket injectors are rated 100hp over stock (when ip tuned etc) that means only 10hp improvement. Does that make sense?

If your reasoning was correct then my 5x.014s would be 200hp injectors.

They are say 100 over stock plus pump adjustments and other supporting mods. 100hp injectors probably would not net you 100 hp with no other mods.

Many of the ratings state WITH (not plus) pump tuning and turbo ugrades.

I don't think you can go by hp ratings of injectors. I would put more faith in actual hole number/size.

Doesn't cc's per 1000 revolutions equate to hp. 1 cc equals 2 hp?? I've read this somewhere on here I think?!?! If?! this is true wouldn't the cc output of the injectors calculate with somewhat the hp output???? I don't know I'm asking!! Fuel output of an injector would have to have some kind of equation to calculate or so I would think. If not the injector manufacture would be selling guesses! I don't know but would like to know!!

Yeah, they use flow rates to give you the estimated power increase.

Maybe 250-300hp is a better estimate, makes a little more sense with the aftermarket ratings.

So then, the stock injectors can flow for 250-300HP with a stock fully tuned IP and with the turbo that can support 300HP.

Ya that seems to be a little more accurate by peoples dyno numbers. I like to guesstimate on the lower end but seems some have hit near 300. That would be the max for IC inj. i am pretty sure though.

What's the flow rate of our stock injectors, in lpm or other flow units.

I've seen aftermarket ratings of "flows xx%" better than stock.

I did 260/646 with a phatshaft turbo and stock pump aside from being maxed out and stock injectors.

That is good to know.

What is a phatshaft turbo?
