Stock downpipe replacement

Hey guys,
I've been searching the site for some options. Right now, my exhaust pipe is cracking where it connects to the turbo. So I would like to purchase a new down pipe.

What is the stock size and why is the only info I can find about down pipes, 4"s in diameter?

I'm still using the stock turbo.

StansHeaders.com sells 4" dp
If you have the tools you could make your own DP. There are several members that have gone that route. Im sure they'll chime in with their .02¢ soon.

The stock size is 3". Going with 4" is a very nice upgrade and several members here have done it and love it (me included). I highly recommend it. Spend the money on a bigger system, stock turbo/or not.

Stan's kit is 475.00 and then someone has to put it together and weld it right?

I'll have a 600.00 exhaust system by then, that's one pipe 14' long.

Can't you just buy the 3" DP and replace that?

The Stan's kit includes clamps for the pipes. No leaks on mine. I installed it in my cousin's driveway (he has a chop saw which I used to cut one pipe to length since the kit is for both regular and extended cabs).

Unfortunately it's not that simple. the special bends that are required to get thru the cross member (on 4x4) are worth the cash just to get it thru that tight spot.

You could just by the 4" down pipe for now and then the rest at a later time.

Edit: The 4" down pipe will fit you 3" stock turbo. It balloons out after the flange. or V clamp.

How bad is the crack? The first thing I'd do is weld it up. You're only out some time and some MIG wire or TIG rod. If that fails, then replace it.

Maybe tis will answer your question this is a 94/02 4" DP w/ the 94/98 cast elbow, into a custom 4" mid pipe to a 5" muffler and 2nd gen Tail pipe.
