Just a follow up, all the parts came in . I was able to remove the old steering shaft. I replaced the rubber rag joint. The old one did not look that bad.

Weird deal - I had an issue with the new Borgeson steering shaft. The unit is in two pieces, you are suppose to be able pull it apart, however my unit is way to tight to move by hand. I am going to give them a call on Monday and see what the deal is.

Anyone else who installed the shaft have this issue?

Guess I will work on some interior stuff and go for a run.

Hope everyone is having a good weekend.

cheers
Doug

Please rea-read post #14. That is exactly what has happened to your steering, and is probably the only problem with it.

Note in step 5 of the over center adjustment, we're looking for 6-10 inch lbs increase in torque. Seal drag is about the same. It should turn with finger tip pressure on the splines.

The adjustment is the screw in the side opposite the pitman. The adjustment can be made in the truck, with TLAR measurement (That Looks About Right), but you'd need to drop the pitman arm and input shaft first. That's really not a big deal. You already have the input shaft disconnected.

Unfortunately, running way too tight for a long period of time often trashes the ball screw assembly to the point that it's not worth rebuilding.

There is a set screw on the side of the borgeson shaft. If that set screw is too tight it will prevent it from expanding or collapsing. Loosen that set screw just a little bit and it should loosen the two piece shaft enough that you can move it by hand.

Once you get it all installed I don't know if your supposed to but I tighten that set screw back up, plus there should be a collar down by the ujoint that has a set screw of it's own that I slid up to the outer shaft and tightened back down to keep the shaft from collapsing on it's own... Make sure to retighen all screws and bolts after 50 to 100 miles....
