Steering gear box ques?

After installing new "o ring" on the valve body, i cant reassemble the valve body/stub shaft/steering worm correctly...When i do put these parts in, my wheels cant not be turned by using the steeering wheel...I cant seem to find the correct way to re-install this worm gear to be activated by the pinion shaft..ive tried this is many different positions with no better results . can anyone offer a resolve to this...My gear box has remained on the truck thur out my self induced aggravation....
TIA

I just had mine tore apart recently to replace the steering shaft seal. I put it back together, and the thing popped when steered sharply. I just bought a junk yard steering box, and I will use it until I get the other one fixed.

The worm gear rolls on loose steel ***** to push the plunger back and forth. If the worm ger comes out too far, the rollers fall out. I think that is what happened when I reassembled my gear box. I don't know if you are familiar with the inner workings of these gearboxes or not, but I just thought that I should explain in case you are not.

I tore another old gearbox apart to figure out how it works. So far, i have not gotten the rollers reassembled in a manner that works. When I figure out how to, I am going to tear apart the gearbox for my 92 and see what the problem is.

Hey

Just checking on your progress. I did the seal on mine last weekend witht the same results, the steering wheel wouldnt turn at all, the fluid was just sitting in the pump, after screwing with it for a while i reved up the engine and it puked out a big air bubble and sucked all the fluid in. I guess it had air trappped in it? could that be the same with your box?
