steering box seal leak - crazy hard to open?

So, I love how educational youtube is. Wanted to come and ask if getting that steering box apart is as hard as it was for this guy:

basically, he had to really struggle to get the seal part out, after the lock nut. Is that typical? if so, I might not be able to handle it.

of course, other question is, if I've got leaking right out of that spot, is there something worse going on, or is this the typical fix (to replace those seals)?

are you saying you didn't pull that big inner round thing, but kept it in place, and could get at the seals while it was still in the box, with the center shaft in place?

I have an old Victor seal puller. witch is just a small slide hammer that uses a small screw poke a hole in the seal with a small punch screw the screw in and the seals comes out most of the time. Sometimes I need to work from one side to the other. I got the seal puller years ago at some estate sale /grage sale/in some pile of tools? and thinking what would I use this thing for but it has made a number of jobs short. After 10 years my 92 needs a new input seal one of the renson I got my truck cheap the power steering leaked bad and no or very poor brakes. https://www.ebay.com/itm/35506620922...3ABFBMoNPyneNi
