Starter Maybe?
Starter Maybe?
about 4 months ago I got a new 950CCa battery as my old one was sounding weak. Last week it sounded like my new battery was getting weak as well.
This morning I went out and turned the key, nothing. Not even a click. I turned on the headlights to see if they were dim or would dim when turning the key. They stayed bright the whole time. Could my starter have taken a dump? The symptoms up to this point sounded like a weak battery but now I'm not so sure...
My mechanic is coming over to take a look as I'm at work today..

If youre sure its only starter-related, as in all accessories still work with the key, then it sounds like it's still either the keyswitch itself(hopefully not), or the starter relay located on the driver's side inner fender.
If it's the 93, there's 3 or 4 black plastic relays there. One of them is a relay for the starter relay.

Mine did that a while ago and it was the starter. Luckily I'm stick, so I just tied an old ratchet strap to my front axle and someone's trailer hitch and pull started the truck to get it home. Just another perk of the manual, I spose.
It's rarely ever the starter itself, especially in this scenario. Since he said he's got no click, the starter hasn't even come into the equation yet.
The simple thing would be to hit the starter solenoid while someone holds the key in the start position. If that doesn't work start working the wiring backwards from there.

The no click is what got me and the non-dimming lights when I hit the starter. Sounds like something is blocking the juice or diminishing the flow of current to the starter...
Here's a link to another thread with the same symptoms and some photographic help from this very site:
