As I need to economically restock my supply of starter parts, I have a few questions.
1. What years starter parts are compatible with our 1989-1993 starters ?
2. Are some parts compatible for several generations and others specific only for 1989-1993 ?
3. I notice most of the plunger and contact kits come with one wide contact and one standard narrow contact; and, I have seen several kits that come with two wide contacts and one standard contact; plunger kits that come with two wide contacts are not the norm so it would seem; why ?
4. I have found several complete kits that are reasonable priced and have just about everything; they look exactly like what I need; yet, they all say 24-volt.
The only piece where difference in voltage could possibly come into play would possibly be the plunger; what is the deal with this 24-volt business ?
Similar kits I see that specifically say for 1989-1993 are the same price but do not include several parts that are included in the 24-volt kits, such as a new battery-cable bolt; plus, those kits come with standard contacts.
None of the kits I have looked at include a new weather-boot for the motor cable.
I would prefer dealing with Amazon Prime; however, Amazon's "search" is basically useless anymore and they have many products that are un-findable for that reason.
I searched specifically for our starter brushes and got pages and pages of unrelated starters and nary a brush to be seen.
The sticker on the starter I was just working on is in much better condition that the one in your picture.
As best I can tell, all my numbers are in agreement with yours with the exception of that little stamped-in number beside where it says 12V; my sticker has a wee bit of damage right there and I can easily make out "37" but whatever is behind 37 is missing.
