squeak, squeak
i've begun to notice a slight squeak under the hood. it's the type of squeak you'd hear from a fan belt in a car. standing from the front it sounds like it's near the back of the motor. but if i walk around to the passenger side and lean in it sounds like it's closer to the front. if i look through the grill i can hear it from the front as well. i'm thinking maybe a tensioner pulley bearing? it's the original pulley since it was new, so i wouldn't doubt it's going after almost 20yrs and 500K miles. any thoughts?

I've had a few bad fan hub bearings to, they are pressed into the housing that the fan is on. They tend to give off a sqeek. when I had a bad tensioner, the belt usally just flies off!!

Hey Jim,
Take the serpentine belt off and see if the squeak is still there this way you can rule out any of the rotating parts, does the sound change with the clutch depressed?
What happened with your leaking injectors?

i'll give that a try. probably should only run it for a few minutes since the water pump and alternator won't be turning, huh? i'm not sure if the sound changes with the clutch depressed or not as it's faint enough that i can't hear it in the cab even with the door open. i'll have a second set of ears stand in front of it while i depress the clutch next time.
injectors seemed to check out fine. didn't see any abnormalities on the seals, no burrs, nothing. i pulled the front 3, mainly #2 that was leaking, wiped them down, applied never seize on the threads and torqued them to 45ft-lbs with about an 1/8th of a turn. after doing the front 3, #5 injector started the same leak. that was frustrating, but luckily the task was easier than i had anticipated. did the same with the rear 3 and torqued them to 45ft-lbs with an 1/8th of a turn. still seems kinda loose to me though. garrett, the guy with the black '94, told me that he's heard from plenty of guys who torque them to 80 or 90ft-lbs. that just seems a little high, and scary to me. but, so far, no leaks. i'm trying to find some wood to knock on
